Longmynd Valleys Weekend

READ BELOW FOR INFO ON KIT REQUIRMENTS & WEATHER CONDITIONS ETC.
Preparations for the 2012 Shropshire Weekend are hotting up here, the spare bedroom is full of 'stuff' and so is the shed and the car!  BUT the opposite can be said with the weather.  Those of you who did the Valleys Weekend last year, when we held it in March, will be lulled into a false sense of security with regard to temperatures.  FORGET last year, just think 2010 and 2009!  Flippin' freezing with snow, hail, blizzards and whippingly cold winds and temperatures to match the Arctic.  Well, welcome home - it's gonna' be the same this year. Whiteout on the Titterstone Clee and Polar Bears on the Mynd, oh! what fun.
Anyway, enough of that stuff - What we should really be saying is  -  If you are hoping to run Titterstone Clee or The Valleys please don't come ill equipped, we just won't let you run, either on Saturday or Sunday. The temperatures are forecast to be well under freezing with winds and snow! You know all the stuff about "If you fall and hurt yourself it can kill you lying on the frozen ground until help arrives" or "if you get lost you will get hypothermia" etc etc So be sensible please. It is the Race Organisers' Responsibility to make sure all kit is checked so bring all the mandatory kit plus the extras.  The Minimum requirements are : Windproof whole body cover; map; whistle; compass AND other body cover appropriate for the conditions. THAT MEANS waterproofs, hats and gloves, buffs, sufficient to protect you from the conditions. It is the Race Organisers' opinion that this may mean waterproof jackets should carried or worn, so make sure it is included in your kit bag.  A final decision will be made on race day and displayed on a notice at Registration.
