LONGMYND VALLEYS RACE - *** 11:00 *** on Sunday 10th February

Entries are now open for the Longmynd Valleys Race - the classic Shropshire Fell Race. It’s a race of two parts with much fast running in the first seven miles gradually transforming into longer, steeper climbs and brutal descents. You'll need previous experience of fell running in poor conditions, and if the clouds are down you may need to be able to navigate effectively in low or zero visibility.

The Longmynd Valleys has been used three times for the English Championships with good reason - it's probably one of the hardest races run in winter. It is also a qualifying race for April's Three Peaks Race.

If you have the experience why not come and spend the weekend running in Shropshire, taking in the short Titterstone Clee race (entry on the day) on the Saturday too.

The race time has been altered, so please not it will start at the earlier time of 11:00 on Sunday 10th February with registration from 9:45 at the National Trust Pavilion, Cardingmill Valley, Church Stretton. THE RACE IS PRE-ENTRY ONLY - there will be be no entries on the day.

This is a TOUGH race and PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. When entering you’ll need to provide the name of a previous event you have competed in with your placing and a link to the results. Suitable events include AM, AL or BL fell races over the winter months of the last two years or a mountain marathon. If in doubt as the suitability of your experience or there are no online results for us to vet, please contact the race organiser at chairman@merciafellrunners.org.uk before submitting an entry.
