5 Peaks Challenge Leg 3

Sounds like our hero's had a somewhat damp experience north of the border as they scaled the highest peak of the trip, but everyone made it up and down The Ben to complete the classic 3 peaks in well under the 24 hours, last hears of they where heading for the ferry to Belfast, and while the rest of us are fast asleep they will be thrown out of the coach in Newcastle, Northern Ireland to find the way to the highest peak in The Mountains of Mournes , if they are lucky they will get to the top to spectacular views over the sea as the sun rises on the last day of their challenge

Shropshire's best fell runners turned out tonight for the annual Pontesbury Fell Race, admittedly they were not all on top form, but with Tim Davies, Mike James, Andi Davies and Roland Stafford all going head to head, it has to be one of the best racing fields seen in any Shropshire race other than one of the English or British championships. The leader at the start was Clewdian runner Stanley Charles, but once on the hill the Davies boys went to the front, at the top it was Andi who was first, on the decent Tim took the lead and was push all the way to the line by Mike Jam

Memorial to Doug Morris

A permanent memorial to one of Shropshire's best known athletes is to
be created at the site of one of his favourite race venues.

Doug Morris, who died last year, organised running events across
Shropshire and north Wales, including the hugely popular Lake Vyrnwy
Half Marathon.
Runners who knew Mr Morris, are now getting together to launch an
appeal to buy a bench to be sited somewhere on the shores of the lake -
the scene of 20 half marathons and earlier marathons.

Rainbow Run - Bluebell Walk

A small field of elite athletes took to the slopes
of Church Stretton as part of The Lingen Davies fund raising event held in
Church Stretton each year, there was a rumour going round that all the runners
were going to do it as a pack running together the whole way round, but the
ranks were soon broken and I shot to the front (acting as the Hare you
understand) the pack followed and the pace picked up soon Nick Jones and Graham
Spencer were up the front pushing for the lead, Graham had obviously forgotten
