The aim of the club is to promote safe and sustainable fell running in and around the West Midlands.

Long Mynd O - December 19th 2007 to January 7th 2008

­­You are invited to take part in Wrekin Orienteer Long Mynd Challenge.
A permanent Orienteering course will be available on the Long Mynd between the above dates.
There will be two courses---Short at about 6 miles and a long at about 8 miles. The above distances are in a straight line between the controls. Actual running distance is likely to be 25%
more t­han this.
You will need Ordnance Survey Map of the Long Mynd at 1/25000.

PARKING—Carding Mill Valley between bridge and Visitor Centre is best. £2 charge

For those of you have not already seen one of the fab Christmas Card that is been circulated this year, it's from an original painting by Graham Andrew, of Mick Boultons old Bedford Coach making its way up the Burway, it is been sold in support of Severn Hospice, so if you haven,t been sent one, you will have to go out and buy one for yourself quick, you may even pick one up in the sales, available at all good book shops in Shropshire, Charity Shops and of course Severn Hospice

­­Mercia's Christmas Do 2007 took on a new slant, we had intended to go Medieval, going with other revelers for a Party at The Clarion in Telford, but plans had to change at the very last minute, but not to be halted 9 Mercia stalwarts (plus Andy Lewis) gathered at Pauline's and Keith's for plenty of Christmas cheer, the group also celebrated Elaines Birthday, see Image Gallery for more photo's.

Mercia Annual Club Dinner 1/3/08

­Following the format of the previous year’s successful evening at the Longville Arms, the 2008 Annual Dinner will be held on March 1st at the same venue... This will follow the Cardingmill Canter as before, details about this evening will be circulated in the New Year.

Mercia held their Annual AGM at The Stiperstones Inn following the Little Stretton to Stiperstones Time Trial, Bob Dredge the Clubs Chairman addressed the assembled members and gave a brief run down of the Clubs performance on and off the fell over the last 12mths, Tony Thompson circulated a copy of the Clubs accounts and Jess Taylor added comments from Secretaries angle, debate was had on several topical issues from staging a relay race between Shropshire Clubs to Club Kit, The Constitution, Club Championships (See Discussion Forum), Junior Sections, All Officers and Committee Members wher

Time Trial

This years Time Trial again brought out Mercia runner in their droves, the main event was eclipsed by Jill Leventon & Pauline Richards doing it as a Pair to celebrate their pensionable status, it was decided they should team up to prevent the two 60 year olds running each other into the ground in their race to be the first Senior Senior Lady over the line. Their arrival at the finish was greeted by a big notice that congratulated them on their achievement and welcomed them as the Time Trial Chicks (and a bottle of champagne).
